The Language of Stigma

November 18, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for a free, online learning opportunity: The Language of Stigma. Click this link to register.

Words have the power to hurt or heal. By intentionally choosing language that is not stigmatizing, we can begin to unravel the negative stereotypes associated with substance use disorders.

The lead presenter, Paul Barry, MSW, LICSW, is a clinical trainer on community and clinical resources for Opioid Use Treatment at the AIMS Center. Paul has over 12 years of experience providing behavioral health services in primary care and academic settings, and currently focuses on training agency staff for the patient navigator role within opioid use disorder treatment.

All are welcome to tune in, listen, and learn. This opportunity is brought to you by Cascade Pacific Action Alliance and the University of Washington’s AIMS Center and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Institute.
